ADHD
What is ADHD?
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, impacts brain development and leads to behavioral challenges. It often begins in childhood, but difficulties can persist into adulthood, affecting various aspects of life.
While awareness of ADHD in children has grown, many adults remain undiagnosed. I specialize in diagnosing and treating adults with ADHD, providing comprehensive evaluations and personalized treatment plans.
What are the symptoms of ADHD?
ADHD symptoms fall into three categories: inattentive, hyperactive, and impulsive.
- Inattentive ADHD may involve overlooking details, careless mistakes, trouble concentrating, difficulty following instructions, forgetfulness, challenges with organization, avoidance of tasks requiring focus, and distractibility.
- Hyperactive/Impulsive ADHD includes constant movement, impulsivity, risk-taking behaviors, and difficulty regulating emotions.
How is ADHD treated?
A combination of therapy and medication often provides the best results for adults with ADHD.
- Medication: Stimulant medications can help manage symptoms, improving emotional regulation and focus. Non-stimulant options are available if stimulants aren’t effective or cause side effects.
- Therapy: Behavioral therapy teaches coping mechanisms to manage responses, improving daily life, relationships, and work.
I will work with you to find the medication and treatment plan that best supports your brain health and promotes greater focus and productivity.
